My Experience With Latisse—and What Patients Should Know Before Using It
Updated: Sep 27
I have used Latisse myself, which gives me a patient perspective on the routine of applying it and waiting for gradual changes. But my own response is not a reason to assume everyone will have the same experience.
What Latisse is
Latisse is the brand name for bimatoprost ophthalmic solution used for eyelash hypotrichosis. It can increase eyelash growth, including length, thickness, and darkness, with consistent use.
Results take time
This is not an instant treatment. Changes develop gradually, and continued use is generally needed to maintain the effect. If treatment is stopped, eyelashes tend to return toward their previous appearance over time.
It is still a prescription medication
Possible effects can include eye irritation or redness, eyelid skin darkening, unwanted hair growth where the medication repeatedly touches the skin, and other eye-area changes. People with eye conditions or eye medications should discuss those details before treatment.
What my own experience changed
Using a treatment personally can make me better at explaining the practical parts—how easy it is to forget, how long results take, and what questions come up between visits. It does not replace the need to evaluate whether the medication is appropriate for the individual patient.
